Fleece Quilts

I'm on several Yahoo quilting email groups ... some I own .... some I'm a moderator .... some I'm just one of the masses. On MQSG and HomeQuiltingSystems a lady posted her doubled sided fleece whole quilts ..... she has been one popular lady. Her fleece quilts are terrific, she uses stencils, rulers and more and they do look like whole quilts. It got me to thinking about my doubled sided fleece quilts which I've given out for several years (they're very popular). I only stitched around the outside and then cut a 4 inch fringe. Below you might have read about my fleece buying at Joann's recently. After seeing hackergranny2003 fleece quilt I thought ... hmmmm ..... I bet I could quilt mine even though mine are prints matched to solids (2 1/2yds each). So I loaded up my 2 fleece fabrics, semi-float on my Nolting 18" long arm, size 20 needle and went to town. Now I'm not a freehander so my quilting was done with pantographs. I have 3 finished and 6 more to go. they do go fast. I really like them .... now they have so much character .... never will I just sew around and fringe again. Thanks hackergranny2003.

Kitty Cat/Hot Pink
Timeless Hearts pantograph
Aurifil top and bottom (4 bobbins)

Maroon/Off White
Flowing Feathers pantograph

Well I gotta get back to Prince Charming ...... 6 more to go.

Those look fabulous - how do you finish them? Sew around and fringe as usual?

They look lovely! What a great idea! I particularly like the Flowing Feathers one, but that might be because it's my pattern, and it's in my colours to boot! I'll be pinching this idea in the near future. Great job!

They look great! I've done a couple quilts with fleece backings and I liked how they turned out. I have more fleece I need to use so maybe I'll do some of these HeartStrings quilts with the fleece back.

Wow, those are fabulous! Now did you put a special needle in or use different thread? I feel the need to bust out some fleece and go to town!!

I see your "long arm" but not too clear on your description of how it worked...Did you follow a printed or stenciled pattern, or did the machine sew automatically with some computerized program installed? This technique and tool are new to me. Thanks for clarity for a novice.

Lynn tried to email you but you're a no-reply ... I added a photo of a pantograph on my long arm. I purchased the paper pattern, lay it on the table (back of machine) and using a laser light follow along. It's easy. No computerized system for me ... this is only a hobby I enjoy. Thanks for visiting.
