Dog Sitter & Quilt

Hey while Pappy is dog sitting ....... I'm quilting.

I sewed up a storm on Saturday. Christmas coins strips are together and trimmed. Now to select sashing/borders.
Christmas Coin Strips
AND even finished a small wall hanging (30x30) I started 3-4yrs ago. I had to laugh at the wall hanging which was a kit from Joann's. It's called Serendipity. The pattern was a "string" block using templates. Man how dumb I was way back then.

Dog Sitting

Our GC are off to Cincinnati for a few days to visit Kings Island, The Bodies, The Zoo and whatever else they can find. They're also visiting their Auntie.

So we (Nanny&Pappy) are dog sitting. They are cute. Here's Tippy (left) and Oreo (right). Tippy is a ShizShiz/Terrier and Oreo is a Mountain Feist. Sorry it's hard to get a good photo through a glass door.

DH has volunteered to 'sit' and help clean house later so I'm going to quilt. I have several tops ready for Prince Charming and even more quilts to sew together ....... it's gloomy outside so my day is going to be almost perfect. We miss our GC already.

NQA Show in Columbus, Ohio

I know you guys are tired of seeing/reading about my GC ....... so here is some quilt news.

On Friday DH and I drove up to Columbus, Ohio to attend the NQA Show (National Quilting Association) .

I took a few photos of the quilts I liked.

The 1st two photos are of Sharon Schamber's, The Spirit of Mother Earth, which took her 2 years to quilt. The next quilt is of a Fireplace Scene which we loved. Towards the end of the photos are a few of the little quilts donated for auction.

Mark your calendars for next year ....... June 18-20, 2009

Enjoy

Birthday Fun

Celebrating Birthday #11 at the Pool with friends

I made all the girls bikini fabric eye glasscases .... the sunglasses were so cute. The glasses were purchased at Crafts 2000 and actually had flowers hot glued across the top .... I removed the flowers. The little beads and feathers on the side of the glasses were already attached.

100th Post Missed

Well shoot I missed my 100th posting ....... a little bit late. To Celebrate my 100th posting I made myself the weight watcher crustless strawberry pie ...... added blueberries. (sorry I ate some before I found the camera) Yummy.
Crustless Strawberry Pie

2 cups Water 1 small box Jell-O sugar-free vanilla pudding (Cook & Serve)
1 small box sugar-free strawberry Jell-O
4 cups strawberries, sliced

Mix WATER and pudding mix in pan, heat until boiling, stirring occasionally. Remove and add strawberry Jell-O powder. Set aside to cool for about 5 minutes. Place strawberries in a 9-inch pie dish. Pour pudding mixture over top of strawberries. Refrigerate until firm, about 2 hours

COUNT: 1/4 pie is 1 point

The Mighty Majestic Fall

Our neighbors .... well actually our DD#1 neighbors had their two (2) majestic trees cut down this week. One in the backyard and one in the frontyard. I have no idea how old the trees were .... the works said they were approximately 65 years. They were beautiful. We're not sure why they decided to have them removed ..... it probably cost them $4000 plus for the removal.

They were beautiful and provided lots of shade not only to their house but the houses on both sides (one of which is DD#1's house).

Oops they hit the fence

Well the photos tell the whole story ...... sad to see these two mighty, majestic trees come down.

Look out Paris and London ... here she comes

There she goes ..... GD#1 on her School trip to Paris and London ...... have fun sweetheart.

Weekend Fun

I'm so far behind in blogging ........ this was our weekend. No quilts but lots of other family fun.

In early June I blogged about our landscape work. I'm happy to say that the new plants are doing pretty good in the rock garden.

That is all are doing well except for the transplanted hosta ..... poor things.

SUNDAY
After Sunday Mass we attended the goodbye luncheon for Fr. Das where roasted pig was served. He is such a joy and we are so sad he is leaving after only a year with us. On the other side of the coin he nows has his own Parish. As Fr. Das is so fond of say ..... "PIG IS LIFE"

I took my famous weight watcher strawberry pie ........ all 18 slices were gone in less than 15 minutes. Yummy

GS and SIL checking our all the other desserts.

GD#2 and Fr. Das

Friday night was Family Night at the Club. Lots of yummy foods and tons of kids. It was really a fun evening.
GD#1 and a friend (Chris) from school during the swim break.

Saturday morning fun. Took GS to Home Depoe's make-it-take-it ...... this month was a sailboat. Where else do you sail .... why in Nanny & Pappy's fish pond, of course.

Meet Tippy ... Shiz-Shiz .... GC's other doggie

That's it for this past weekend .......
