Long Arm Meeting

MERRY CHRISTMAS

We had our longarm Christmas Long Arm Party today.

Today's Show'n'Tell Program was anything Christmas. Now sit back and be prepared to see lots of eye candy.

Shirley Stutz dazzled us with her creativity. Shirley took 6 Christmas Advent panels

to make this wonderful quilt. Thanks you Shirley.

This is a book of the owner's quilts. Made via Snapfish

The quilt above and this quilt are made from the same pattern.

Tree Skirt

Our luncheon

The Crock Pot Chicken was loved by all. Janice gave us the recipe.

Cook 4-5 chicken breast in water (or stock) with some celery, carrots and onion. After it cools break it apart into small pieces then freeze it.

The day of your party remove frozen, cooked chicken breast from the freezer. Place in crockpot with 2 cans cream of chicken and 1 can cream of celery. Heat on medium for several hours. Serve on buns or just plain.

It was delicious ........ thank you Janice.

My purchases

See you January 14, 2009. Program is bring your favorite quilting tool. We'll also discuss our wholecloth project which is due at the September meeting.

EDIT: I'm sorry I don't have names with all the projects ... I just didn't think to write the names down. SORRY.

The Stitchin Post

This is the Stitchin Post in Cambridge, Ohio. (1996 E. Wheeling Ave., (740) 435-9590). We were on our way home from our longarm meeting so we stopped at the Stitchin Post. NICE shop.

Oh they have a longarm machine in order to quilt for customers.

The owner told us the Stitchin Post would be closing Dec. 23 for remodeling and change of hands. It will reopen around Jan. 12 (call before going) and it will also have a new name, Almost Sisters.

I bought a little fabric. LOL

EDIT: Yes I had permission to take photos inside the Store.

Pretty Pretty in Pink

There's nothing like a Pretty Pretty cast ...........

A couple weeks ago our sweet, darling GD#2 broke her arm in 2 places. Yesterday (Tues) she finally got her cast, a HOT PINK cast.

We will all being autographing the case as soon as the Nutcracker performance is over this weekend. LOL

Not a very good photo but all my blocks are stitched together. I haven't decided about the border yet. I don't care for the look in book with all those rectangles around the outside ........ so I'm still thinking.

Thank you Dave owner of our health food store for sending me the correct recipe.
I posted the above recipe back on 11/26 but the recipe was missing some ingredients. Over the years we lost the recipe so DH was winging it. I wrote to Dave and he sent me the "real" cranberry chutney.

Table Decoration Craft

GD#2 is a Girl Scout. Sun. evening the girls will be cooking dinner for their families at the Parish Hall. Each girl selected a Country to represent and was responsible for making the table decoration. She selected the United States.

DH and GD#2 made the candle setup ... those are foam bowls in jelly jars and gravel. The white and red around the bottom are scarfs I made several years ago. They shredded blue napkins and red paper (it was white on the other side) to make the confetti. I made the green and red Christmas firecrackers .. they have jingle bells inside of toilet paper holders.

They did a wonderful job I think.

Merry Christmas

EDIT: I guess my crafting all these years has rubbed off on DH ....... way to go sweetheart.

Tutorial for Christmas Napkins

Christmas Napkins

I've been making lots of the napkins, they are quick, cute and perfect. Many have asked for the pattern. I started with the free pattern on Craft Sanity's website. I made one and showed it to my DH who ooed-ahhed and said "that's alot of fabric", "why don't you cut it in half". He's always my sounding board and color consultant. Hmmm I said to myself "ok, I'll give it a try". They are now PERFECT.

OK now on with 'my' tutorial based on Craft Sanity.

2 pieces of fabric, right sides together, pin on your pattern. I used a 18 inch circle, cut in half. Cut out. I used a rotary cutter but you can use scissors.

You can barely see my 2nd piece of fabric but it was green (right corner) and a Santa print. You could easily use same fabric on both sides.

Sew using 1/4 inch seam, be sure to leave an openeing a couple inches so you can turn the napkin.

Cut off the corners, clip the curve, then turn right side out. If you have pinking shears then you won't need to clip the curve (I couldn't find mine).

Poke out the corners 'carefully', press nicely.

Top stitch the napkin. I used Coats'n'Clark embroidery thread ... I like the sheen.

Follow the folding instructions on Crafty Sanity's website. She has a video on how to fold but remember she is using a full circle but the folding technique is the same. That's it, my way.

I hope to make more napkins in other fabrics for next year. LOL

Oh Crafty Sanity has an adorable potholder/hotpad tutorial you might like. AND a video too.

Here are some made by Deb here and here. She used a different pattern.

Merry Quilting .........
