I'm Featured .... Can You Believe ....

I love love the Christmas tree napkin project. I make new ones every year for someone. The great part is you can use any fabric print or not that you want. Here's a few I've made over the years.

Christmas Tree Skirt

I've been working for a week or so on a Christmas Tree Skirt for DD#2 and family.



It's 60" wide, I used felt from Joann's, some wool, some flannel and other goodies. Only the snow is stitched by machine ... all other pieces I hand stitched. Snowpeople are made of batting. A very long time ago I remember seeing the snowpeople in a book but all the other pieces are my own. It's true I'm no artist.

As I said I hand stitched all the pieces ... I was inspired by this BLOG, of course, she uses the real thing instead of felt. I do love her work.

Table Decoration Craft

GD#2 is a Girl Scout. Sun. evening the girls will be cooking dinner for their families at the Parish Hall. Each girl selected a Country to represent and was responsible for making the table decoration. She selected the United States.

DH and GD#2 made the candle setup ... those are foam bowls in jelly jars and gravel. The white and red around the bottom are scarfs I made several years ago. They shredded blue napkins and red paper (it was white on the other side) to make the confetti. I made the green and red Christmas firecrackers .. they have jingle bells inside of toilet paper holders.

They did a wonderful job I think.

Tutorial for Christmas Napkins

Christmas Napkins

I've been making lots of the napkins, they are quick, cute and perfect. Many have asked for the pattern. I started with the free pattern on Craft Sanity's website. I made one and showed it to my DH who ooed-ahhed and said "that's alot of fabric", "why don't you cut it in half". He's always my sounding board and color consultant. Hmmm I said to myself "ok, I'll give it a try". They are now PERFECT.

OK now on with 'my' tutorial based on Craft Sanity.

2 pieces of fabric, right sides together, pin on your pattern. I used a 18 inch circle, cut in half. Cut out. I used a rotary cutter but you can use scissors.





You can barely see my 2nd piece of fabric but it was green (right corner) and a Santa print. You could easily use same fabric on both sides.


Sew using 1/4 inch seam, be sure to leave an openeing a couple inches so you can turn the napkin.

Cut off the corners, clip the curve, then turn right side out. If you have pinking shears then you won't need to clip the curve (I couldn't find mine).




Poke out the corners 'carefully', press nicely.



Top stitch the napkin. I used Coats'n'Clark embroidery thread ... I like the sheen.

Follow the folding instructions on Crafty Sanity's website. She has a video on how to fold but remember she is using a full circle but the folding technique is the same. That's it, my way.

I hope to make more napkins in other fabrics for next year. LOL

No School .... la la la ..... No School

No School again today .........................

My 3 GC (15, 10, & 7) came over this morning and did some crafting. 15yr made Valentine's. 10 and 7 year olds made t-shirts. Afterwards we had to go to Joann's and check out all their goodies.

Of course we had to talk to our boyfriend .... that's my cat, Sweetie, taking a nap.

And I finished piecing this bar quilt, pieced the backing together and attached the label. I'm ready to quilt it on Prince.

Poor DH had to go for his 2nd sleep test last night for Sleep Apnea .... he was very tired when he got home at 6AM. So he thought he'd take alittle nap with his cat "Mister" before going to work.

"Oh No" Sponge Bob is frozen in the fish pond ..... no need to worry because the fish are down deep and probably asleep.

Two frozen cats made their way into the house.

We hardly ever get snow as we're in the valley (Mid Ohio Valley) ... a few inches a year is about it. I love the way the backyards of all my neighbors look with snow.

Now our Son-In-Law is crazy crazy for WVU so he painted his barn blue and gold. He's certainly been the hit of all the neighbors (male) who want to paint their barns blue and gold but their wives say "NO NO NEVER"
