great giveaway-thank you, I started quilting soon after retirement around 2004-we were remodeling (still are) and hubby was sick, and I didn't have anything I could to do, and Mom says find a little corner somewhere and plug in that sewing machine-lol so I started doing raggy quilts from reclaimed materials
I love shirts for making quilts-I have a whole shelf and just love them

I started quilting in 1975-6 when I made a quilted DRESS. I started quilting to USE UP the leftovers--still haven't used them all up! Thanks for hosting a giveaway!

Thanks for not having us jump through hoops. I usually won't enter hoop jumping giveaways. Now, I started quilting about 10 years ago. I had an embroidery machine and was meeting with some "sewers" but didn't like to sew. So I got a rail fence pattern from Nancy's Notions and some cheep fabric and off I went. And was immediatly hooked.

What a neat idea for the man's shirt - and to think I JUST gave a HUGE bag to Goodwill when I could have been making fun blocks. Very cool!!

I started quilting when I was knee-high, making blankets for dolls. Grandmother used to pass me her scraps and I'd hoard them.

Funny thing, I STILL hoard my scraps..LOL

Happy Fall.

My husband and I were expecting our 1st daughter, we were at a gun shop (my husband was a police officer) and next to it was a brand new quilt store. We went inside and they had a wonderful saff and my husband talked me into taking a hand piecing/quilting class. I did - finished 3 crib size before the end of class - all by hand. Thank goodness I have finally finished checking out all “Fall into Fall” participants! It has taken all weekend and you are my very last blog.

I have been quilting off and on over the years but it wasn’t until 2007 that I began machine quilting, until then I simply “tied” my quilts. Once I began learning to machine quilt I was addicted. I still have much to learn but I can see great improvement.

What a lot of wonderful goodies you are giving away! I started quilting the summer of 1991. For the Christmas of '91, with an 11 month old and a 2 year old I made two quilts. One for my Mother and one for my Grandmother. I did all the quilting on my regular sewing machine (which I still use almost exclusively even though it's 25 years old!). I have done quilting and a multitude of other crafts for years!

Winona said...

Great giveaway. I started quilting 4 years ago, when our youngest moved out. Had to have something to do. Started reading quilt blogs and was bitten by the bug. LOL Have a wonderful day. Winona

I have always done some kind of handwork. It used to be cross stitch, but you mix 2 toddlers and 5 boxes of totally organized and numerically orderly threads, and you need a hobby with less supplies, so I saw a show on PBS about quilting. Four kids and 16 years later, I am still quilting, although I have way more fabric and threads than I ever had with cross stitch! Oh, and the 2 toddlers are now 16 and 18, and no longer get into my stash of anything. Marianne

I swtarted quilting in 1996, when I was in 6th grade, I made a quillow, then tried to learn pants but loved teh quilted cover I made for my quillow and went from there. I seriously got into it in 2005, and have been going hard since....so REALLY 2005, but I did ignite the flame earlier

Nanbon44 said...

I started in the 70's when I cut up hubby's shirts, my first attempt and I didn't have a clue. nothing after that for years, My Mom would make my quilts, she hand quilted and I didn't have the patience for that. When she was going through Chemo treatments I moved home for two months to take care of her we made our first and last quilt together, mine was a heart, hers a basket, the basket quilt has never been finished. I now follow in her footsteps and I make quilts for charities and I love it, beside making the smaller quilts I get lots of practice for the big quilts for family.

Hi there, I made my first 'full' quilt earlier this year, with lots of plans to make more...just need to step away from the computer (said in my best P.A. voice) and get stuck into doing so.

I know you said we have to have a US snail mail addy...I actually live in Australia, but a friend lets me get things sent to her house in US, so does that count? Either way, if I win, I'll like to get it sent to her....so we can share the love!

Hi there!
Very nice prizes :) Thank you for the chance to win!

I made a "quilt" for my first boyfriend way back in 1980 - he dumped me a week later - (as my kids now say - what a major loser!!) It really was just triangles sewed into squares. I started quilting about 3 years ago - with patterns and quality fabric. I really enjoy it - just wish I had more time to work on projects! But I guess we could all say that :)

And the striped shirt alone is enough to make a follower! What a GREAT idea! (Add THAT to my to-do list!!!) :)

Thanks for a great bundle of gifts!!!
