Quilt for Alycia's Project

I actually finished this quilt a couple weeks ago. There has been so much going on this month that I didn't have time to take photos and post until now.

I'm part of a big online charity group. This quilt is being donated from The Quilting Bee forum . The rail fence center was made by Roslyn Atwood. I hope you'll jump over and visit The Quilting Bee, a fantastic forum. And please stop by Roslyn's blog ... she is so generous and giving.

I added the 2 borders and then used Prince Charming (Nolting 24" PRO) to quilt it. It's quilted with the Ebb & Flow pantograph of Lorien Quilting for the design. I love that pantograph ... the design lends itself to so many quilt projects.

The 2nd border design is postage stamps .... I thought it was so appropriate for a military quilt .... they do travel the world.

Today I mailed it off to Alycia for her Soldier Quilt Project from The Quilting Bee group. .

Care Bear Quilt Donation

Care Bears charity quilt.

This adorable Care Bear quilt will be donated to the Eve Organization via a local quilt shop. Eve is for battered women/children, their locations are not disclosed so no one can find them.

The quilt was sent to me from a new online forum The Quilting Bee of which I'm a member. The top was pieced by Ros of http://ros-the-quilter.blogspot.com/ . Since 2004 Ros has served as Colorado Coordinator for Home Of the Brave Quilt Project and began to quilt for the Quilts Of Valor program in 2005.

I quilted the Care Bears with a pantograph, Popcorn, by Jodi Bemish of Willow Leaf Studio. It reminds me of clouds .... perfect for the adorable Care Bears motif. I own a Nolting 24" PRO longarm machine named Prince Charming.

Gabriel Project Quilts

These four (4) baby quilts were my contribution to my Wednesday Stitchers Group. We are making quilts for Gabriel Project.

I took some of these scraps home to make baby quilts.




This one was based on the free Simply Strippy pattern from Bonnie at Quiltville. It's quilted with Timeless Hearts pantograph by Timeless Quilting Designs.

These next two quilts (bar style) were based on this quilt from Lululollylegs blog.

I've said it before "I'm mainly a charity quilter" ...... this is my latest ........ Here Kitty, Kitty.


Kitty theme, quilted with hearts/loops (one of my favorites). It's 39x57.

Pink/White String Quilts

Last year I joined a swap over at HGTV for pink and white (only) string blocks ... 6.5" and/or 12.5" blocks. In the end I only sent in the 6.5" blocks .... mostly because of the rising postage rates.


So I made 2 quilts from my 12.5" string blocks. I did make a few extra blocks with aqua centers as I wanted to make a heart shape in the middle.

Here's my 1st String Quilt with the aqua heart shape. I used Hearts and Loops pantograph.

Here's my 2nd String Quilt ...... by the way DH picked out the border/backing fabric. He has such a good color eye .... so much better than me. I used Angel Wings pantograph by Jodi Bemish on the quilt.

Both of these quilts will be donated to charity.

Hard Work Paid Off on Tuesday

I love email (except SPAM) and quilting, therefore, I'm on alot of Yahoo email groups .... I won't tell you how many because you'd think I was completely nuts. Lately most has been nothing but way off topic stuff so I've turned all my groups to "Special Notice". I spend way too much time reading email instead of quilting. Now I did leave these Yahoo email groups turned on .... MQSG, Nolting LongArm and Heartstrings; 1st two I'm a moderator and Heartstrings I love.

Tuesday I got busy picking out backing fabrics, piecing it together in some case and selecting the quilt to go with a particular backing. Most of my quilting is for charities so I like for the backing to be interesting and not necessarily to match the actual quilt top. Plus my binding is usually from a totally different fabric. You know kids love color, lots of color. I didn't keep track of what fabric I busted yesterday but it was alot and it felt good. You see I have a very very large stash .... ask my DH. So here's a photo of 9 backings all matched up to 10 charity quilts tucked inside.





It'll take me a couple weeks to finish these up .... I'll post when they're done.








I had 9 quilts almost finished ... they only needed their Project Linus labels. I'll turn these in at our February meeting. Quilt tops were actually quilted in 2007. I make very simply charity quilts like bar quilts. I quilted all of these on my Prince (long arm). Here they are:



Most of my charity quilts are approximately 40" x 56" range. I also make mostly of boy theme quilts. A large portion of the quilts donated to our local Linus are for babies and girls thus my reason for boy quilts.



Here's a few samples ....... see I told you they were simply bar type quilts. I'm not much of a traditionalist quilter, matching points, corners, making blocks and etc.





















Well I'm off to my Wednesday Stitching group ........ love this group .... no rules, no dues, no officers .... nothing but great friendship and lots of chit chat.

Bright Fish and Sunshine Quilt

This quilt was pieced by Peggy, Stacy (Border 1) and Alimx (Border 2) from Quilting Passion forum. I did the quilting and binding. I used the Waterworld pantograph by Jodi Beamish.

I plan to donate this quilt to House for Habitat in Franklin, WV if they can use it. If not then to my local Project Linus group OR our local Gabriel Project).

Quilting Passion's forum is committed to charity quilting. The forum was born in 2002 and to date the members have donated 1,575 quilts (420 of those in 2006 and 311 in 2007).
