Quilt for Alycia's Project

I actually finished this quilt a couple weeks ago. There has been so much going on this month that I didn't have time to take photos and post until now.
I'm part of a big online charity group. This quilt is being donated from The Quilting Bee forum . The rail fence center was made by Roslyn Atwood. I hope you'll jump over and visit The Quilting Bee, a fantastic forum. And please stop by Roslyn's blog ... she is so generous and giving.
I added the 2 borders and then used Prince Charming (Nolting 24" PRO) to quilt it. It's quilted with the Ebb & Flow pantograph of Lorien Quilting for the design. I love that pantograph ... the design lends itself to so many quilt projects.
The 2nd border design is postage stamps .... I thought it was so appropriate for a military quilt .... they do travel the world.
Today I mailed it off to Alycia for her Soldier Quilt Project from The Quilting Bee group. .

Mister needs your prayers

Mister is DH's cat. Last summer Mister started hanging around so we took him in. He definitely was someones beloved cat as he had already been fixed and seemed well cared for when he came to our porch. He's approximately 10 years old, we think.
Anyway Mister and DH are very attached to each other ......... they are always together.
Something went wrong with Mister's left back leg on Sunday ....... the leg is totally limp and he isn't able to walk. Poor Mister.
DH rushed him to the Vet this morning. They said nothing was broken so test are being run .... I hope we find out today as DH is going out of town on business for the week.
If you have time say a little prayer for our Mister to get well. THANKS
UPDATE 1PM: Well something is wrong with his liver, blood work came back yellow (?), thyroid might not be right either. Also blood is not flowing to that limb thus the reason it's not working. Now I might not have all this exactly right .... they're keeping him a couple days. Poor old guy.

Stitchers Group

I'm part of a small group that meets on Wednesday .... we're not a quild, club ... we just enjoy each others company and love sewing together.
The above stacked of nine quilts are part of our charity drive for Gabriel Project. So far this year we have donated close to 30 baby quilts.

Quilt It This Way

I made this Stacked Posie quilt a couple years ago. Like most things I make they lay around gathering dust as I never have a clue how to quilt.

Back in March I was reading my favorite blogs via google.com/reader I read on Feathered Fibers Blog that she was sending out an open call for quilt tops. She would select some from the photos submitted and then 'draw' on the quilts.

I submitted several photos and she selected the one below. Carla is one talented lady and I'm thrilled she selected one of my quilts.

Isn't this fabulous???? This design is if you own a longarm machine. I do own a Nolting 24" PRO. Now someday (when I get the nerve) I'm going to try and quilt it just like this.

Now if you quilt with a domestic sewing machine then below is what she suggests. I love it too.

If you would like to read more about "my" quilt on her blog then please jump over to Feathered Fibers post on March 11.
Also if you'd like to read more about Carla's method of Using Photoshop to draw on quilts then check out this post. I'd love to try her method .... need more hours in the day .... don't we all.

The World Needs More, Lots More of This .....

I love this video

Quilting Arts TV Show

Quilting Arts TV Show gets better and better everytime I watch it. Last week show was tip-top. This is Show: 312 Inks & Dyes

Debbie Crane shows her Fabric Books.

Shelly Stokes use Shiva paint stik to "color" sewing notions. WOW now you can have any notion to match your fabrics.

Now this segment with Dianne Giancola who used Rit Dye to dye cotton batting ........ yes Rit Dye to dye cotton batting. The little quilt shown below is batting .... not fabrics .... batting, yes batting. Isn't it wonderful........

Aren't these colored battings wonderful ........ almost good enough to eat. LOL

And Judy Perex who uses metal. Yes she stitches with it. Very cool idea.

So jump over to Quilting Arts TV website, register and get all the info especially if you don't get the show on your local PBS. I will tell you that in our TV guide it says Quilt In a Day but Quilting Arts plays. So maybe your guide is incorrect too.

Exercise and New Way of Eating

A couple months back I decided I needed to start exercising again so off I went to our local YMCA. So at least 4 days a week I take some classes, work out with a personal trainer and squeeze in aerobics. I'm feeling so much better.

About 5yrs ago I was on Weight Watchers and actually made it to be a Lifetimer. Then I became too confident and wandered away and gained back about 20 pounds. So back in Sept. 2008 I went back to Weight Watchers. I'm happy to say that I'm almost back to goal. It's hard to loose weight when you're over 60 but I'm plugging along.
EDIT: I'm happy to add that as of Wed., April 8 I made goal so am now back to LIFETIME weight watcher status. yea

Now recently Weight Watchers moved their location. I don't know what they're thinking. The WW Center is located between a pizza joint and a sandwich shop ....... can't you believe it ....

Here's GS and Pappy ....... they're two peas in a pod.

Care Bear Quilt Donation

Care Bears charity quilt.

This adorable Care Bear quilt will be donated to the Eve Organization via a local quilt shop. Eve is for battered women/children, their locations are not disclosed so no one can find them.

The quilt was sent to me from a new online forum The Quilting Bee of which I'm a member. The top was pieced by Ros of http://ros-the-quilter.blogspot.com/ . Since 2004 Ros has served as Colorado Coordinator for Home Of the Brave Quilt Project and began to quilt for the Quilts Of Valor program in 2005.

I quilted the Care Bears with a pantograph, Popcorn, by Jodi Bemish of Willow Leaf Studio. It reminds me of clouds .... perfect for the adorable Care Bears motif. I own a Nolting 24" PRO longarm machine named Prince Charming.

Music Star

The Middle Schools (7th and 8th grades) had a little play off this week. GD#2 who is a 6th grader was asked to participate. It seems that no one else is able to play quite as good .... so the Band Leader said. She's a little thing and often hides behind the music stand.

Here's two (2) videos of the Band playing. Now you see the tall girl with long arm ... GD#2 is standing to the right.
